Hatsu is the lightest character blend in Ippodo's regular matcha lineup. Its taste is highlighted by astringency and a short aftertaste, offering a refreshingly sharp personality when prepared straight as usucha. With a soft green color, it is also a smart choice for those who enjoy using matcha in baking or making lattes.

About this item:

  • Light & Astringent: Hatsu is a light-bodied matcha with the shortest, sharpest aftertaste in Ippodo’s offerings.

  • Kyoto Since 1717: Ippodo Tea has been run by the same family in Kyoto for over three centuries.

  • Grown, processed, blended, and packaged entirely in Japan.

  • 40-gram size: Approximately 20 standard servings of matcha.

  • Recommendations: Ideal for regular matcha (usucha), matcha lattes, and baking. Its astringency adds a crisp character to lattes and works well in baked goods due to its vibrant green color.
